About the Group

FOLK GROUP OF SONG AND DANCE " JUBILAT" ŚWIDNICA

The Folk Group of Song and Dance “Jubilat” was founded in 1975, on the initiative of Alfred Galant, the then director of Świdnica`s Railway Carriage Factory, and the municipal authorities. Since then,

for over 45 years, the inhabitants of not only Świdnica but also other places in the Lower Silesia as well as places in Poland and abroad, have had the opportunity to applaud the artists, continuously improving their performance skills.

Although originated in the Lower Silesia (southwest Poland), the main objective of the “Jubilat” group is to cultivate the folk traditions of all regions of Poland, to promote and draw from the abundant resources of the Polish folk culture, and thus to rescue from oblivion its impressive heritage.

Throughout its 45-year history, the “Jubilat” group has created a number of complete programmes, to mention but a few most successful:

“PIEŚNI I TANCE NA KRAKOWSKIM RYNKU”, “PIEŚNI I TAŃCE KSIĘSTWA WARSZAWSKIEGO”, “WESELE LUBELSKIE”, “ŻYWIECKIE GRONICKI” “KUJAWSKIE ZADUMY” (folklore of central Poland)

“ŚLADAMI PIASTÓW” (folklore following the historical Amber Route from south-west Poland to

the Baltic Sea),

“TAŃCE ŚLĄSKIE” (folklore of Silesia, south-west Poland)

The “Jubilat” group has constantly participated in numerous festivals in Poland and abroad, has given a countless number of concerts and artistic tours, has been distinguished with a lot of diplomas and congratulatories, among others from Ministry of Arts and Culture, regional and municipal authorities, administrative and educational alike.

The latest significant achievement is to have been granted the membership of IOV SECTION POLAND-2016. The team was awarded the Medal for “Merit to POLISH CULTURE” by MINISTER OF CULTURE AND ART IN WARSAW 2011. TEAM IS A MEMBER OF THE ASSOCIATION OF

DANCE FANS and a member of CITY PARTNERSHIP Świdnica.

The JUBILAT group has won the hearts of the audiences not only in Poland. The tours abroad

include the neighbouring countries, such as Germany or the Czech Republic, but also Austria,

Italy, Korea, Bosnia and Hercegovin, Montenegro, Serbia, France, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark,

Slovakia, Lithuania, Portugal, Denmark, Sardinia, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary, India, Monte Carlo

,Ibiza,Cyprus (some of them on regular terms), where the performances always met with an

exceptionally warm reception.

The JUBILAT has participated in many EU projects, through which hosted folk groups from different

countries such as Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Sicily, Ukraine. The major projects include V Edition

of the Foundation Fri Alfa Wroclaw ,,Multicultural Silesia - music, art, links" and the project “THREE

SEAS, THREE CULTURES, ONE WAY" The outstanding artistic level of the JUBILAT group has been reached through the involvement of its ordinary members, but also thanks to the highly professional contribution of its directors and instructors.

We note that our The Folk Group of Song and Dance JUBILAT is able to comply with all

requirements of state (duration of performances, number of participants) LUBOMIR SZMID - present artistic director (since 1986) and choreographer.
